Yoshi Dissected

Jason Freeny is at it again. First he dissected Mario, and now he’s done everyone’s favourite egg-thrower, Yoshi. For those of you who haven’t seen Jason’s work before, you have to check out his site. He takes vinyl toys, cuts them open, and gives everyone a peek at our most loved characters’ innards. While this Yoshi is amazing, my favourite by far is his Stay Puft creation. Who know Marshmallow monsters had so many bones?

Pokémon: Apokélypse

“Celadon City hasn’t been the same since the Gyms closed down. Pokémon fighting has gone underground, and the sport has gotten a taste for blood. Ash, Misty, and Brock have been forced deep into the city’s seedy underbelly to keep training, but the Pokémon aren’t the only ones in danger. Now, Ash must choose to either become a master in the grim world of illegal pokémon fighting, or make a desperate stand to free them all from the criminal grip of Rocket Industries.”

I’m sure some of you saw the leaked trailer of the Pokemon live action film and was wondering whether or not it there was an actual movie coming out. Well the truth has been revealed, and with mixed emotions from the masses, turns out it was only a fan-fiction trailer. Could have fooled me, the trailer is amazingly done in HD with the production value and CG looking close to the real thing. Must be some pretty hardcore fans to want to create something like this, and the guys over at Shogun Gamer have the full story and interview with the minds behind the project.

NOTE: Also, I noticed that the opening scene in the trailer shows a dark Metropolitan skyline. I’m certain that this is Downtown Vancouver, the building with the poke ball is clearly Harbour Centre with the Bell tower next to it. Pretty Cool!

Street Fighter X Tekken

Most of you have already heard the news of Capcom’s newest announcement at this year’s Comic-Con for “Street Fighter X Tekken” and Namco’s “Tekken X Street Fighter”. I myself was pretty excited when I first heard of it but I have to say… not as excited as these guys…

The sound of an exhibition hall full of screaming gamers when Chun-li comes in to tag Ryu is a nerdgasm all in unison. The only time I’ve ever heard it live was the opening credits of Star Wars Episode 1 in theatres on its first weekend, It’s definitely something to experience in person.

I’ve been waiting for this game since the moment I realized that world at war wasn’t that great. Infinity Ward’s first Modern Warfare was amazing! Everyone and their brother was playing Halo 3 and until I discovered CoD4, I was too. I literally converted at least 10 of my buddies overnight to play that game. Two years later, we get another dose of some old fashioned, modern day, gunfights!

Now I didn’t hit the local Wal-Mart at 12:01am last night like the hardcores, but I did skip out of work for a half, to jet over to my local Electronics Boutique.

I also didn’t go all out and get the expensive edition (or whatever it’s called), I just got the typical, run of the mill, disc. The reason for this is: one, I’m normal, two, I don’t need another pair of NVGs, and three, Hamburger Disco needs to release another shirt, soon!

What is Party-Tencho?! It sounds like something Hamburger Disco would come up with. Party-Tencho is a flash game developer, games that have a Japanese twist to them. I seriously spent a good chunk of my free time playing these pointless flash games. The games remind me of Bishi Bashi, a button smashing arcade game that has players duke it out in different minigames.

Koi2 (koitsu) is the act of poking someone’s forehead. The game itself is pretty funny, you click your mouse button to shoot hands at the girl sitting in front of you. The object of the game is obviously to poke her in the forehead while she’s on a platform that moves up and down. Think that’s easy? she’s got power ups that can help her block your attacks. At the end you’re rated on your score with a funny little rank.

There are 3 more games, one of which is in Japanese so I know nothing about it. Check out the youtube vids for the gameplay action!

Daft Punk in DJ Hero

Fans of the Rock simulation definitely know about the upcoming DJ Hero game from Activision. I can’t wait for this to come out. Activision just released some screenshots of Daft Punk and what they’ll look like in the game.

09.09.09 – I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. If there’s anything I love as much as my classic hip-hop, It would be the Beatles. If there’s anything I put Street Fighter IV down for it would be Rock Band. The two have come together to form the newest installment of plastic instrument heaven.

Me and my buddies are going to be playing this all night. I’m not springing for the full set. Not right now, anyway. I’m going to stick with my vintage Rock Band 1 drums. Even though it would’ve been cool to have the ludwig Beatles drum kit I’m not shelling out the cash until my current drums break (for the third time). After work I’m going to drive my car to the nearest retailer and head home.

I think the cinematics of the game look amazing and all the reviews are saying it too. The set list is huge, and the upcoming DLC is awesome too. I read somewhere that they are eventually going to release every single beatles song? Looks like fans have a ticket to ride on an adventure that’ll take them on the greatest Beatles experience since 1970.
