Hamburger Disco has returned from our much anticipated trip of the year and… are now feeling a bit of Japan withdrawal. Can you blame us?? Check out the videos to see just why we love this boys’ club country!  Our resident boy genius Mattias was cool enough to record our antics and edit them during the trip on his trusty iPod touch with iMovie.

Dim Sum Asians was a name (not a very cool one, but we had to have something) us friends made back in high school.  It was our dream to experience Japan together after graduation, but then life happened.  Here we were, 6 years later and still friends, finally making the dream come to reality.

Dim Sum Asians hit Japan!

Avid MMA fans will probably recognize the name Genki Sudo, and if you do you probably remember his elaborate stage entrances before his bouts.  Genki Sudo was known for his unorthodox and creative fighting style (watch a few highlights on youtube and you’ll see) and his creativity outside of the ring as well.  He has now since hung up his gloves and turned to the world of music and dance with his group WORLD ORDER.  It reminds me of Vancouver based dance group Groovy G’s with their isolations and slow motion movement.

Seeing that we’ve got our Japan trip in two weeks from now I’ve been all over the internet looking up everything that is Japan.  One thing that Japan is mostly noted for is the interesting fashion that Japanese youth have in Tokyo.  You’ll most likely see girls dressed in designer clothing, fake tans, tons of make-up and blonde hair.  Gyaru, comes from the English word Gal, has become its own culture and the Shibuya Gyaru aims to spread that every minute of your day.

“The “Gal Tokei” (Gal Clock) will inform the viewers of hours using images of gals in their late teens to early ’20s.  A total of 1,440 pictures of girls holding up a sign with the current time will be displayed on screen all day long, meaning every minute is announced by a different shot.”

Only in Japan will something like this take off.  Makes me all that more excited to go and immerse myself in this interesting culture.  I’d say they look better than that Jersey Shore that everyone seems to be into.

I’m sure some of you saw the leaked trailer of the Pokemon live action film and was wondering whether or not it there was an actual movie coming out.  Well the truth has been revealed, and with mixed emotions from the masses, turns out it was only a fan-fiction trailer.  Could have fooled me, the trailer is amazingly done in HD with the production value and CG looking close to the real thing.  Must be some pretty hardcore fans to want to create something like this, and the guys over at Shogun Gamer have the full story and interview with the minds behind the project.

NOTE: Also, I noticed that the opening scene in the trailer shows a dark Metropolitan skyline.  I’m certain that this is Downtown Vancouver, the building with the poke ball is clearly Harbour Centre with the Bell tower next to it.  Pretty Cool!

Haven’t you heard? Being a Dickead’s cool.  One of the Hardihood Clothing boys posted this on twitter the other day and I couldn’t get the song out of my head.  I have nothing against dickheads but sometimes I think that their choices in what they wear just don’t make sense… or maybe that’s the point? It’s not cool…but is that what makes it cool?

TIME TO WATCH SOME MTV VMA 2010 PERFORMANCES!

Just an FYI for you kiddies, Hamburger Disco is taking a trip to Japan next month in October… where it all started.  Keep your eyes out for some updates!

Most of you have already heard the news of Capcom’s newest announcement at this year’s Comic-Con for “Street Fighter X Tekken” and Namco’s “Tekken X Street Fighter”.  I myself was pretty excited when I first heard of it but I have to say… not as excited as these guys…

The sound of an exhibition hall full of screaming gamers when Chun-li comes in to tag Ryu is a nerdgasm all in unison.  The only time I’ve ever heard it live was the opening credits of Star Wars Episode 1 in theatres on its first weekend, It’s definitely something to experience in person.

Have you guys seen the new Old Spice campaigns?  I’ve always thought Terry Crews was hilarious ever since I saw White Chicks…

There’s not much really to say about it, just watch the video.  The other video is the spot they have playing before the movie in theatres… Old Spice is definitely rethinking their branding, whoever thought of this stuff is genius.

What do you do when you’re a teenage popstar and a mainstay on Twitter’s trending topics? Buy comedy site Funny Or Die, rename it “Bieber or Die,” and proclaim that “anything that’s not Bieber, dies” in a video that shows the singer might actually be somewhat self-aware of the absurdity of his popularity. Funny or Die is taking the joke all the way though, completely redesigning its site for the prank. Justin Bieber recently has been garnering a lot of attention and Aziz Ansari recently poked fun at his new song on the site

I logged into YouTube today and I think this is one of their best tricks to date.  YouTube has gone old school today by announcing TEXTp, a text-only mode for the service. From their blog: “By replacing the images in the video with a series of letters and numbers, the videos are far less taxing on our system — and have the added benefit of promoting literacy!”

Google has always been known for going extreme on April Fool’s Day (just check out what they did with YouTube). “Early last month the mayor of Topeka, Kansas stunned the world by announcing that his city was changing its name to Google. We’ve been wondering ever since how best to honor that moving gesture. Today we are pleased to announce that as of 1AM (Central Daylight Time) April 1st, Google has officially changed our name to Topeka.”

When you first log onto deviantART you don’t really notice much change,  unless of course you start looking at all the user avatars and notice that its taken a turn for the worse.  Twilight and Lady Gaga avatars have replaced all the user avatars on the site. <3 <3 Team Jacob!
