Zombie Spaceship Wasteland: A book that is definitely on my to read list. Patton Oswalt has been one of my favourite comedians in the last five years, and I haven’t even seen a lot of his stand up. I remember seeing him just as the weird friend dude on King of Queens. Now I think he is probably one of the funniest talk show guests around (Others go to Norm Macdonald, Will Arnett, Harland Williams).

I’m always excited to see this guy as a guest on any talk show. He’s got great antics and great observations. If you want to youtube it i’m sure you can google “Patton Oswalt ______”, insert a talk show host of your choice, and find an ass-load of clips.

Anyway, Patton talks about his life stylized with his own geekiness and comedy. Order on Amazon.

The War for Late Night

I don’t think I enjoyed anything more on TV last year than the ongoing war for late night. It was amazing! For one month, it was open season for all talk show hosts across the board. This was the greatest thing to happen in crossover history since Marvel vs. DC. Who could forget Jimmy Kimmel’s ambush on Leno’s 10 @ 10? Or Letterman weighing in? And probably the coolest thing to happen of all - Jimmy Kimmel doing a monologue as Leno?

Relive it all with all with ‘The War for Late Night‘. This book is a retelling of these amazing events from the writers of ‘The Late Shift‘. If you haven’t read the ‘The Late Shift‘ yet, read it. Or better yet, watch the HBO movie adaptation.

Toilets of the World!

Matt and I visited Portobello West on the weekend to check out some cool stuff. Portobello West is a new monthly market for Vancouver’s burgeoning fashion designers, jewelers and artists to showcase their designs. While looking through the stalls we met the authors of this cool little yellow book. Morna Gregory and Sian James have a traveled life, so they decided to take pictures of all the toilets from the many places they’ve visited and compiled them all into this book.

Check out this urinal from Montreal, Quebec. You may wonder what’s so special about this one, it’s actually a female urinal. See the attachment? yep, you guessed it! They even included an instructional “how to” sketch in their book. Matt ended up buying the book and getting a signed copy because he’s always wanted to compile pictures of toilets he’s seen from his travels. It’s definitely an interesting read.
